3rd Quarter Reflection
The area I think that I made the most improvements in is my Global Collaboration. I didn't really know much about global collaboration before. I thought all of us were completely different but it turns out we are all somewhat similar. With the pen pals we have really expanded my experience with other people. I would say if we didn't do that I wouldn't understand how other people lived. We also did a project on telling people from different places in the world how we live and what we do. It turns out we have many similarities. Thanks to this class my Global Collaboration became much more efficient.
What I accomplished this year in this class was that I read five books while I was here. I am really proud of that because I don't necessarily enjoy it. I also didn't really read much but, when I came into this class in the beginning of the third quarter. Now I enjoy reading and I would like to read more. I am in Battle of the Books and that helped me to experience reading better and actually enjoy it. I am starting to really enjoy this class.
The most challenging part of the third quarter I would say would be the blogs and the AOWs because we have to do them both in one week. It is sometimes hard to make time I know I'm still a kid but it could be hard sometimes. To top it we have to study for a vocabulary quiz the same week. I happen to like this challenge that Mrs. Larson is giving us because it pushes me to do my best and I don't do that a lot I do the bare minimum but not anymore. Without these challenges I would be much lazier.

Extended Metaphor Poem
Really tired the next day:
I woke up feeling good on a beautiful Monday
I went to school like an average kid
went to my first class and then the next
But the thing is in my third period class I got a lot of homework
It was very unlikely to get a lot of homework in this class
but it is what it is
We had to do a 3 paragraphs on an article,
and study for the biggest test of 7th grade
THE CONSTITUTION TEST
After school I went home and I studied
Then when I look at the time it's already 9:30
I forgot that my computer shuts off at 10:00
So I tried to rush through all of the paragraphs,
but I still couldn't finish
So now it time to make a decision
Stay up late and finish or get a goodnight sleep
I chose something I know I would regret and that was to finish the homework
I was up until 3:35 A.M.
But I didn't care as long as I finished
When I woke up for school I was really cranky and very whinny
I hated when I was like that and I'm pretty sure everyone else did too
I looked like feces and felt like it too
I chose to stay up late and finish my homework
And that has made all the difference

Bio-Poem for Literary Character
A Dog's Life By: Ann M. Martin
Squirrel
Naive , curious, brave, caring
A character in Ann Martin's story
Lover of family, others, outdoors
Who noticed that she is still just a pup, not easily understood and slowly growing up
Who feels neglected, misunderstood and too young
Who learns that being young is okay and you need to enjoy life while you still have it
Who says "My heart thumped so hard I could feel it beating in my throat"
Who used to think that the humans are good people but now knows to trust no one.
Major character in "A Dog's Life"
A book that is really interesting to me
Lover of family, others, outdoors
Who noticed that she is still just a pup, not easily understood and slowly growing up
Who feels neglected, misunderstood and too young
Who learns that being young is okay and you need to enjoy life while you still have it

Who used to think that the humans are good people but now knows to trust no one.
Major character in "A Dog's Life"
A book that is really interesting to me

Picture Poem
Stormy Day
I woke up on a dark and stormy day
It was the perfect time in May.
I ran outside to get my bike from the yard,
then the rain came down really hard.
I headed towards the park
and it started to get dark.
I have arrived and I take out my ball.
It was me and no other.
I take my first shot and another
Now it is time for me to go
because the air in my basketball was low.
Until I return basketball hoop.
Next time I’m coming with a group.Thursday, February 26, 2015
Global Collaboration
Global Collaboration
My level of global awareness before 7th grade wasn't all that great. I didn't really know about any other countries besides Mexico, and I still barely knew about it. However, coming into this class has increased my global awareness because of the projects we do with other people across the world. This one specific project we did in class was called "Global Collaboration", we learned about how people from different places around the world are and how they live. Also when we do our article of the week (AOW) it lets me know what's happening around the world.
If I had pen pals I would think they are great for global collaboration. I think they would teach me about their own cultures and about their lifestyle. Also, I think we could find differences and similarities between us. It should be a great experience.
I have to say my perspective has changed a lot on collaboration. I used to think that everyone was completely different because of how they looked and where they are from. However, now I know that we are different but in a unique way and that we almost all live in the same way.
The most shocking thing that I have found out do to my global collaboration is that their is a lethal group called ISIS. They are involved with everyone and in my opinion we need to join together and stop them. We have already experienced too many casualties. It's very important to keep working on the global collaboration.

The Testing By: Joelle Charbonneau
Evaluate
When evaluating, look closely to determine what is important and significant.
• Evaluate whether the title fits the story.
• Evaluate the quality of the writing.
• Evaluate whether the main character would be worthy of your friendship.
The title definitely fits the story because the whole book is revolved around something called "The Testing." The Testing is just a series of tests. Tests such as a huge maze, a quiz and things to determine your social skills. The way The Testing is that it's like survival of the fittest but not necessarily. I say it's survival of the fittest because the kids who were selected have to be smart, athletic and ready to anything needed to survive.
The quality of the writing is descriptive and interesting. I say that the authors writing is descriptive because the words that they use just put so many images in my head. I'm not really sure what it was but Charbonneau used really juicy and strong words to describe her book. I also say the writing was interesting. It was a very interesting style of writing because Charnonneau didn't necessarily follow the writing rules. He would start off sentences with random words and I have no idea why that's interesting to me but it just is. I would say that I would want to be friends Cia Vale. She is a very smart and friendly person. Cia is just like most of my friends but I think I can relate to her well, so she would be worthy of my friendship.
